Players learn the rules and the starting situation on the first cards, which also guide them through the setup. Once the set-up is complete, players make nine jumps in time. Each jump takes them to an independent moment in the past (or future) and allows them to change that moment in one of three ways, which can change the starting situation for better or worse. Players must discuss what they know and try to develop theories about the story, using the clues they have gathered from the different time jumps. Only by continually adapting their theories and making the right choices will they succeed in changing destiny.
