The first expedition to Mars ended with a heroic fight by the astronauts for survival and initiated the first mission aimed at colonizing the planet, which was financed by four corporations.

Now in Martians: A Story of Civilization the human colony on Mars, managed by leaders of the corporations, has to explore the planet in search of necessary resources, build new constructions, and develop technologies adjusted to planetary conditions.

Such effort is necessary not only to survive, but also to create better living standards for future generations raised by colonists.

I want to love this game, not just like it ...the reason I feel a little down on it is the rule book is terrible ...sadly, it makes the game a lot harder to understand than necessary and I hope a new rule book ( PDF) will become available soon. However, the game play is quite straight forward, it offers several ways of playing and so far I have only played the competitive version and not attempted the various scenarios ...solid production although mine is a non KS version so I don't have the 3D buildings ...one of the things I really like is the board is two sided so you can choose the best orientation for you gaming circumstances either landscape or portrait. It has some very interesting working placement mechanics which are based on units of time ...which generally is equal to three per action so some tough tacticle and strategic decisions need to made. As I said it's a real shame about the rule book otherwise I would have rated this a five star game ...as the game play and design is excellent once you get over the rule book ...
