Shogi

Shogi is a traditional Japanese game that pits two players against each other around the shogiban, a board of 81 squares of uniform color. In this chess-like game, the objective of the players is to take the opponent's king. On his turn, the active player can either move a piece already on the board or drop a captured piece on his opponent. With millions of players in Japan, Shogi is, like Go, one of the most popular games in the country.
