Muwatalli II as Leader of the Hittite Army

Muwatalli II is best known as the Hittite ruler who fought Ramesses II to a standstill at the Battle of Kadesh. During the early campaigns of Ramesses II the Egyptians marched north into Syria threatening the Amurru kingdom that was critical to Hittite economy. Securing Amurru was Muwatalli II's stated motivation for marching south to confront the Egyptians.
