Each game involves three to five heroes fighting a villain in a hostile environment. The game is fully cooperative, meaning that the villain and environment are not controlled by a dedicated player, but are controlled by flipping cards from their deck and following the instructions on those cards.

Each hero, villain and environment is represented by a deck of cards. Heroes and villains also have character cards, which define their hit points and other character-specific information.

The game begins with the villain's turn, followed by each hero's turn in a clockwise direction. The turn ends with the Environment turn. After the Environment's turn, start the turn over with the Villain's turn!

The game continues in this order until either the heroes save the multiverse or the villain annihilates the heroes, one way or another.
