The British and their allies launched Operation Brevity in mid-May 1941 to both make a spoiling attack against the Axis forces that were besieging Tobruk, and to get into better jump off positions for a future major offensive. Still smarting after Rommel’s early victories over them in the spring, the British planned an offensive that was to be majestic, ponderous and unstoppable (at least in theory) showcasing the British art of war through the practice of Britskrieg!
The offensive had good success at the beginning, but after the initial confusion of the Axis command was over, they were able to execute well-planned counter-attacks and Rommel rushed reinforcements to the front. The Axis forces were able to stop and then push back the British thrusts into their territory.
This two-player game comes with one 8½″ x 11″ map with charts, a set of 54 die-cut counters, and rules. Fast-playing but with close attention to detail, Britskrieg! will allow players to explore how each side can gain (and lose) mastery of the battlefield.
