As magic and supernatural creatures proliferated throughout the country, Queen Elizabeth passed a law against conjuring, enchantments, and witchcraft in 1563 that severely punished acts of magic. In 1564, John Dee and Francis Walsingham convinced the queen to pass an amendment to the law - Dee's sanction - allowing the practice of magic in defense of the realm.

You are an agent of Dee, not by choice, but by a twisted sense of self-preservation. Somewhere between conscription and penance, you work for Walsingham and Dee to make amends, with a faint hope that you can use your talents to earn forgiveness and absolution.

You can see the light at the end of the tunnel. If only you can move beyond the shadows of your past and the horrors of the present...

The Dee Sanction is a stand-alone role-playing game featuring:
  •     a character generation system, including random agent creation and a Tradecraft system to take advantage of contacts, magic, and special equipment
  •     a short history of the Tudors, a brief chronology of events and a description of the main enemies of Elizabethan England
  •     a simple, self-contained system for dealing with threats, hazards and consequences in a forward-looking approach
  •     a bestiary of supernatural and common enemies, as well as a complete introductory adventure, "Lost in Translation".
The system requires a full set of polyhedral dice or can be played with an ordinary deck of playing cards.
