Ensure your gang's survival and escape the state police!

In Brazil, in the late 1800s and early 1900s, large landowners known as coronéis, starved the northeast of the country in a vast region that included the Sertão desert. It was in this climate of corruption and abuse that the Cangaceiros were born, bandits who violently opposed the status quo.

Each gang has a leader chosen from the twenty available, each with unique abilities and characteristics.

Players use cards to collect resources, place bandits to guard an area, attack the Volantes, storm the Recife city jail, convert accumulated resources into fame, train their leader and recruit new gang members.

You earn by accumulating fame points, which you get by attacking the Volantes, but also by training your leader to solve his life's goal and help him retire in glory. Fame points can also be earned in a number of other ways, and the player who collects the most wins.

The game combines the mechanics of area control, worker placement and deck building. Each player uses a deck of seven Action cards, which allow them to attack the Volantes (the state police trained to kill them) or perform different actions - such as moving, collecting resources, placing a garrison to control an area, attacking the prison, training their leader and recruiting new members for the Gang.
