Kauri

Description

Which species will prevail in this historic conflict?

30 million years BC, a gigantic volcanic eruption spawns an island in the depths of the Pacific Ocean.

Life invades the land, where ferns and trees flourish. One of them, emblematic of the island, is the Kauri (ka-o-ri) from New Zealand.

From faraway lands, birds and insects find refuge in this tranquil haven. In the absence of terrestrial predators, some, like the honorable kiwi, lose their ability to fly.
The first humans to settle on this land cultivated and honored it: the Maoris.
James Cook upset this balance by mapping the island. English colonization was characterized by the exploitation of the kauri forests.

The pioneers introduced a marsupial to breed for its fur: the possum . But not everything went according to plan. The possums got out of hand, spreading across the island and devouring its vegetation.

From then on, nothing will ever be the same again.

In Kauri, each player takes on the role of one of the 4 factions on offer, as they attempt to make their place in history. The Kauri, the island's emblematic tree, will be at the heart of the conflicts between the species, so each will score points differently.

Play your cards right to take possession of the island and prevent the other species from scoring too many points.

While the kiwi needs to keep its specimens alive, the possum needs to expand as much as possible. The English will first clear and then hunt the possum, and the Maori will peacefully build her temples.
