For this new edition the game mechanics have been refined and the beautiful illustrations that shaped the previous editions are preserved, but you will discover that the Hobbit, Sauron, dice and ring markers from the previous edition of the game have been updated with all-new, beautifully sculpted figurines.

In this game, you and your friends become intrepid Hobbits, ready to carry the One Ring to the heart of Mordor and throw it into the depths of Mount Doom where it was forged by Sauron.

Your journey, however, will be most perilous.

Throughout the game, you'll have to make your way through four game boards, representing some of the most memorable battles in the entire trilogy: Moria, Helm's Deep, Shelob's Lair, and Mordor. Each board will put your small community to the test, as you'll have to play your quest cards to advance along several tracks. These tracks represent combat, concealment, travel and friendship. By playing the quest cards in your hand with the corresponding symbols, you can keep moving forward and get closer to victory.

If you manage to escape your enemies quickly, you can hope to escape with a minimum of corruption, healing your wounds in safe places along your journey, such as the Elven kingdom of Lothlórien. By playing your cards well and moving quickly, you can collect powerful runes, unlock legendary maps to help you on your journey, or find tokens of life to help you fend off corruption, not to mention moving quickly through conflict. During your journey, the One Ring can be a crucial tool, allowing you to hide, but its repeated use will draw Sauron's attention and corrupt the heart of the Ring Bearer.



Beware, because if Sauron's miniature meets a Hobbit, that player is eliminated - and if the Ring Bearer is eliminated, all players lose because Sauron regains the power of the One Ring!
