Transport enough goods across the river before your opponent and before you lose too many! Heritage Farms is a simple but thought-provoking strategy game with a unique single-player mode.
It is a Mint Tin game based on the classic puzzle of the farmer who must get his chicken, fox, and corn across the river, but only has room for one at a time in his boat. If you leave the chicken and fox alone, the chicken will be eaten. If you leave the chicken alone with the corn, the corn will be eaten. The unique feature of this game is that you can have the other player watch over your resources, along with their own. Players compete to be the first to get two sets of chicken, fox, and corn across the river!
On your turn, you can load 1 farmer and 1 commodity onto your boat to cross the river. If this leaves the card without any farmers (yours or your opponent's), the “law of nature” applies: foxes eat chickens and chickens eat corn. If a player loses 3 of their commodities, they lose immediately.
When you deliver your farmer to the market, you reveal the market bonus located there. You collect it when your farmer leaves that card. Market bonuses offer powerful one-time abilities, such as moving your opponent's boat, allowing you to place 2 farmers on a card, moving a good up or down a card, or moving a farmer up or down a card.
The first player to get 2 sets of chickens, foxes, and corn in their markets wins the game.
Advanced mode adds zombie chickens and poisoned corn! These new types of goods “infect” other goods when they move and change the rules of “natural law.” Zombie chickens eat foxes when left alone, and poisoned corn kills chickens.
The game's single-player mode puts you in the difficult position of helping your incompetent cousin, Elmer, while trying to get your goods across the river. In this mode, you lose if you OR Elmer lose 3 goods, or if Elmer gets his goods across first.
