China's War: 1937-1941

Description

Play as Japan, the Nationalists, the Communists, or the Warlords in the Sino-Japanese War of 1937-1941.

On the night of July 7, 1937, a clash at the Marco Polo Bridge near Beijing escalated into a full-scale invasion and occupation of China by the Imperial Japanese Army, which would last until 1945. Western sources refer to this as the “Second Sino-Japanese War,” in China it is known as the “War of Resistance,” and in Japan it is referred to as the “China Incident.”

The game focuses on the first five years of the conflict, when China faced the Japanese Empire almost alone. Players take on the roles of different factions attempting to attack or defend the Republic of China: the expansionist Japanese army, the embattled Guomindang government, the insurgent Chinese Communist Party, or independent and opportunistic warlords.

Through military, political, and economic actions, and by exploiting various events, players move their forces to influence the population, extract resources, and achieve their faction's objectives. A card game regulates the order of turns, events, victory conditions, and other processes. Non-player factions can be managed by the rules, allowing for solo, two-player, or multiplayer games.
