In Kilia, players take on the role of shipping company captains who will stop at nothing to build their fleets, develop their infrastructure, and win the favor of local dignitaries.
The Schleswig-Holstein Canal has just been inaugurated, and the city of Kiel is entering a new era of trade.
Between warehouses, contracts, skills, and ships, every decision counts in making Kiel a hub of European trade.
Develop your shipping company by optimizing:
- The placement of Action cards to build warehouses, recruit merchants, or improve your development areas
- The management of goods and coins
- The completion of lucrative contracts
- The acquisition of permanent skills
- Strategic positioning on the objectives of the Council board
The goal is to score as many points as possible at the end of the game by completing objectives, developing your areas, fulfilling contracts, and exploiting your skills.
Each turn in Kilia consists of several steps:
- Choose an Action card
- Select a card from the 5 available on the Council board
- The cost depends on the number of keys you have (influence)
- Option to pay to renew the reserve
- Use the card
- Slide it under a development area (castle, university, shipyard, warehouse)
- Place it on the market to recruit a merchant
- Build a warehouse or acquire a skill depending on the activated area
- Additional actions
- Activate merchants to obtain resources
- Fulfill contracts by paying for the required goods
- Place score tokens on the objectives achieved on the Council board
- Council phase (end of turn)
- Move boats along the canal to collect goods
- Reset merchants
- Reorganize the Action and Contract card reserve
Action cards are versatile: they allow you to develop, build, recruit, or acquire skills.
The boat evolves over the course of the rounds, collecting resources based on the warehouses built along the canal.
The final round is triggered as soon as a player places their 4th score token. Once this round is complete, the points are tallied:
- Points for objectives achieved on the board
- Points for development cards of your color
- Points for completed contracts
- Points related to skills (specific goods)
- Bonus points via merchants activated at the end of the game
The player with the highest total wins the game.
In case of a tie, the player with the most goods and coins is declared the winner.
