The Moonrakers are on the brink. They have freed themselves from the oppressive rule of the Utopian Alliance, but they struggle to remain independent and find their identity. Alliances form and factions emerge as the Moonrakers decide to look outward rather than fight over what little they have. Captains venture into unknown corners of the system in pursuit of resources, influence, and power. Fragile alliances won't last forever, and soon someone will have to step up to take the lead, or they will collapse.
Brink is a game of worker placement, trading, and hidden voting that brings the Moonrakers universe into a new genre. It combines the strategy and planning of a worker placement game with the negotiation and “open play” found in Moonrakers and Fractured Sky.
Each turn, players place one of three ships (workers) of different sizes on a hexagonal grid. Each hexagon earns the player resources and actions, but more importantly, it gives them power within a faction based on the color of the hexagon. At the end of each turn, players vote to determine which faction will score points, which are then multiplied by each player's power in that faction's color on the board.
Players will upgrade their ships, hire ambassadors, explore new systems, and spend their influence to achieve their faction's goals, which will grant them new abilities.
Each game, the map will reveal itself in a completely new way as
regions are explored, presenting new strategies as well as the strengths
and weaknesses of existing strategies. The player with the most
prestige points at the end of 3 rounds wins the game!
