Clans of Caledonia, a strategy game for 1-4 players about whisky, trade and glory!

Clans of Caledonia is a strategic and interactive economic game set in 19th-century Scotland. During this period, Scotland made the transition from a predominantly agricultural economy to an industrialised one heavily reliant on trade and export. Food production increased to support the growth in population, cheap cotton imports increasingly replaced linens, and raising sheep gained importance. Also, whisky turned into the premium alocholic beverage in Europe!
As proud members of the old clans, you use your unique abilities to earn the greatest wealth and fame.
Features such as a modular map, nine historic clans, and various scoring and port tiles provide you with outstanding replayability.
The game is in English; however, all essential gameplay elements remain language-independent. To ensure accessibility for players worldwide, we provide language packs featuring a translated rulebook and player aids.

Gameplay

The game ends after 5 rounds. Each round consists of the three phases:
  • 1. Players take turns and do one of 8 possible actions, from building, to upgrading, trading and exporting. When players run out of money, they pass and collect a passing bonus.
  • 2. In the production phase, each player collects basic resources, refined goods and cash from their production units built on the game map. Each production unit built makes income visible on the player mat. Refined goods require the respective basic resource.
  • 3. Players receive glory depending on the scoring tile of the current round. Players need to adjust their glory markers only 5 times in the whole game.
