Freezing Death - Finnish Winter War is a game about the Soviet invasion of Finland in 1939.

November 30, 1939.
Emboldened by the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the Soviet Union attacks Finland.
For 105 days, cold and wintery, the eyes of the world are fixed far to the north.  A vicious battle in record-breaking, freezing temperatures begins.
The Soviets - overwhelming in men and equipment - are determined to break the weak defences of the Finns.  The Finns - although weaker in firepower - could turn the harsh northern winter conditions into a surprise advantage.
As the Western powers deliberated on an intervention, time was running out for both sides. Can Finnish defences withstand ever more violent attacks across the border?  Will Stalin pay the political price for a battle that turned out to be far more complex than a simple parade to Helsinki?
The game contains 55 uniquely illustrated cards, each with an authentic photograph taken during the war.
Freezing Death - Finnish Winter War (or Jäinen Kuolema in Finnish) comes with a fully assembled game board showing the map of Finland as it looked in the mid-1930s, with 74 counters, the 55 cards mentioned above, as well as 8 six-sided dice and reference material.
All components are of high quality, both visually and physically, and the game. The game is fully bilingual, in English and Finnish.
Freezing Death is a two-player, card-based wargame. One player leads the Finnish defence forces and the other the Soviet Red Army.
The game begins in 1935, when both players can prepare for the coming struggle. Should the Finnish player improve the Mannerheim Line or use these resources to reinforce the regular troops? Should the Soviet player use his influence in Western labor movements to decrease the likelihood of future intervention, or is purely military strategy a better way to spread the revolution?
The three fronts are those where Soviet forces are trying to defeat Finnish resistance, while the Western intervention track shows the international involvement in the conflict in Finland and thus the likelihood of Anglo-French intervention.
The 55 action cards are at the heart of the game. They can be used either as action points or as events. Events include Molotov cocktails, political commissioners, international journalists and vodka rations.
