You draw cards and earn more Echo each turn to pay for the units, items, and spells you play, building your band of warriors as you go and ensuring that every match is a constant surprise.
You play as a Seeker, a champion of your faction, who leads a band of warriors through the cursed lands of the Curse and battles enemies to recover the relics of the former holders. The game can be played face-to-face or in teams. Players bring the terrain of their choice to create a battlefield and battle each other using their custom decks, with each Seeker offering distinct playstyles and creative ways to combine cards from their associated factions.
The goal of the game is to reach the mastery threshold for a scenario. Players gain mastery by defeating enemies and retaining relics, which can be recovered if their units are near an uncontested corpse at the end of a turn.
Malediction is played in multiple rounds. Each round consists of 4 phases:
1. Refresh Phase: Players gain an echo equal to 2 times the round number, refresh their units, draw 2 cards, and resolve an initiative auction.
2. Deployment phase: Players deploy units and items to the battlefield.
3. Action phase: Players activate their units in turn.
4. End phase: Players attempt to collect relics from nearby carcasses and check to see if they have won the game.
Once the end phase is complete, if no player has won the game, a new turn begins, starting with the refresh phase.
Note: requires several different boxes to play with 2, 3, or 4 players.
Important: game miniatures are not included. Only digital files (STL format) are included, so you can print your own miniatures.
