The Curse of Candelabria - Solo Mode Expansion adds elevated terrain mechanics for multiplayer and solo modes with 90 new cards.

Each scenario has a predefined setup, where the initial forces of the house are extremely reduced and face one or two other houses scattered across the lands of Candelabria.

The player, with a limited number of moves, must defeat all the forces on the game board positioned around their objective or, alternatively, defeat all the candles of the houses on the board to win.

Although it follows the basic rules of the game, this mode has a few exceptions, such as:

  • Solo mode uses the 1-3 player side of the game board;
  • The game does not end after 3 years: the years progress as the player deploys and maneuvers, with different rules depending on the scenario and difficulty. Each scenario can affect: the starting year, the number of moves required for the year to progress, the maximum year a player can reach;
  • Opposing houses may have more than one land flame per territory: enemy houses may deploy more than one land flame per territory. This can happen in several ways (sometimes from the start, depending on the scenario);
  • Tactical cards are discarded once used: each tactical card is discarded after a single use and cannot be recovered. Symbols relating to initiative increases result in a better reading of the battlefield (see next section);
  • 90 unique cards are introduced to guide enemy actions, both in combat and outside of combat. Each scenario will indicate when enemy non-combat actions are performed and from where the cards are resolved, while in combat, the same cards act as double tactical cards that will attempt to harm the player based on the card's theme and the resolved effect;
  • Some unique rules will be added to each scenario, such as different victory and defeat conditions depending on the story and events that unfold.

New mechanics: mountains

In this expansion, we introduce a new game mechanic: mountains. This mechanic adds a three-dimensional dimension to the game board, expanding strategic possibilities and limiting opponents' movements, thus creating a completely different map when tiles are placed.

Requires the core game.

Mountains are elevated terrain features that cannot be crossed by normal means, separating the territories between which they are placed by cutting regions in half or completely separating two regions. These separations must be placed in the locations indicated.

Although these small divisions may seem insignificant, they are essential for hindering the development of enemy forces, creating bottlenecks, and manipulating the map a little more, thus taking full advantage of movements and highlighting the strength of explorers.
