The Lords of Fear wage a merciless war to invade the dreams of sleeping children and win the Crown of the Night. Every night, they go from dream to dream to place their minions there, and as their influence grows, they enlist the help of the Legendaries, the undisputed terrors of the Land of Meanders...
How to play
On your turn, play a Dance (movement sequence) from one of the 4 Dream Cards in play in the River. Position yourself strategically to place as many Spawn as possible on the tiles adjacent to your favorite Dreams (3 different types/colors + 1 neutral). By ending on a Spawn Dream, increase your Fear score and as soon as your gauge reaches a milestone, recruit a Legendary, a nightmare creature with formidable abilities to turn the game around and disrupt the established order. Bonus: if your Dance takes you over an opposing Lord, place a Spawn on their tile for free.
Spaces are limited, with only 3 Offspring per Dream tile, across all Lords. After performing your Dance, add a new Dream tile to the edge of the board... or on top of another tile if it has dotted lines around the edge.
End of the game
The game ends when all the Dream tile stacks are empty, making sure that everyone has played the same number of times. The score is then calculated using the “present on” rule rather than the majority rule. The higher the stack of tiles, the more points it is worth.
You earn bonus points if the last tile is on its gray side (Forgotten Dream), if you have a trio of Offspring, or if one of your Offspring has no other Offspring on adjacent tiles. Add your Fear score (non-linear value) and the Lord with the highest total points ascends to the throne of the Meanders.
