Venture into the mystical world of Norse mythology.

Thorgal: The Board Game consists of 7 self-contained scenarios, each taking around 90-120 minutes to play. The scenarios do NOT form a campaign and have no legacy functionality, so they can be played by different gaming groups and over an extended period.

The game comes with a card book. Each scenario is played on a different map, which players explore while fulfilling scenario objectives, and promises completely different adventures, hidden opportunities and complex characters. Players are free to choose whether they travel as a single group or split up to cover several areas at the same time. They also carry out side quests that could help them win a scenario.

Another important feature of the game is the storybook containing narrative descriptions of the encounters the characters have in each scenario. The adventures described in the book are specific to each scenario and character, but many of them are randomized within a scenario, offering greater replayability and allowing for repeated play. There are also subplots that players can pursue to gain advantages and reveal additional story elements.

Thorgal, while having a strong narrative element, offers a brand new and unique action selection mechanism. With this new mechanism, actions have different powers depending on the other actions already taken. Players plan their strategy and sequence of actions carefully, as this has a direct impact on the strength of each action's effect. This requires strategy and reflection, making every turn important for all players.

Each character gains experience over the course of the game and improves his or her abilities. This dynamic progression allows players to make significant decisions about how to develop their heroes in the game. Characters gather resources and craft items to help them survive in this dangerous world.
