An expansion for Akropolis

No more rivalries between cities: players join forces to build a majestic capital and honor the ancient gods. Every decision counts, every stone laid brings the city closer to the heavens. Good cooperation and a touch of strategy are the keys to making the Capital shine throughout the ancient world.

Players choose a scenario together from Corinth, Sparta, or Athens, each offering a different level of difficulty. Each player receives a starting tile, while the remaining tiles form the heart of the Capital. Three Architectural Challenge tiles are revealed, accompanied by their corresponding Divine Altars. Players also receive Stone cubes and City tiles, which they keep in their hand like cards. Unlike the basic game, there is no river.

Turn sequence

On their turn, each player may, while following the placement rules of the basic game:

  • Add a tile to their City (free)
    • Earn Stones by covering Quarries
    • Validate Architectural Challenges
  • Help build the Capital (cost: 1 Stone)
    • Place a tile in the Capital

Once their action is complete, the player draws a tile so that they always have 3 in their hand.

Architectural Challenges & Divine Altars

Each completed Challenge allows a Divine Altar to be placed in the Capital. In this expansion, squares work slightly differently. For a square to count at the end of the game, it must contain an Altar of the same color. Players can unlock new Challenge locations by paying 5 Stones.

End of the game

The game ends when all City tiles have been played and hands are empty. Only Capital Squares with valid Altars are counted. Personal Cities do not earn any points. The final score is compared to that of the chosen scenario. Managing Stones, coordinating placements, and anticipating Challenges are essential to achieving collective victory.
