There is no point in swimming, you have to ride on the others on time!

Each team of animals consists of a crocodile, a turtle, a frog and a gecko, all of different sizes.

To move their animals forward, the players have the choice between two possibilities:

  • Either they add a tile to their stream to make all the animals move forward at the same time.
  • or they roll three dice and then choose a combination of icons depending on the result.

The player must keep in mind that the large animals can carry the smaller ones on their backs . Similarly, animals stacked too high will rush to the bridges over the river and will be eliminated - they can only be overtaken by the moving action.

The first player whose full team of animals reaches the finish is declared the winner.

    Go Gecko Go! est un petit jeu de course dès 6 ans. À son tour, soit on place une tuile sur une colonne d’eau, qui fait avancer toute la colonne, un peu à la Labyrinthe, je pousse, déplace, soit on lance les dés et on avance l’animal correspondant. Le premier à attendre le côté opposé du plateau remporte la partie. Voilà, c’est tout. Ou presque.

    Go Gecko Go! repose sur deux subtilités.

    Le plateau compte deux ponts, sous lesquels il va falloir passer. Et lors de la course, à l’instar du très bon jeu de pari Camel Up, on peut grimper sur d’autres animaux pour se « taper l’incruste » et avancer avec, grâce à eux.

    Sauf que. Vous avez compris le souci.

    Plus on grimpe, et plus on augmente le risque de se prendre un pont dans le museau et de tomber en arrière. Passera, passera pas ? La même question que toute famille suisse se pose en décembre-janvier avec son porte-ski sur le toit quand on entre dans un parking souterrain.

    Dans Go Gecko Go!, il va donc falloir prendre 2-3 décisions : grimper, ou pas, et quand. Il a été nommé au Spiel des Jahres pour enfants en 2019. C’est La Vallée des Vikings qui a fini par remporter le fameux prix. Il faut croire que la sélection de cette année-là était plutôt… pauvre, parce que le jeu est, au final, plutôt creux et pas trop engageant.

    Les enfants s’y amusent, peu. On y jouera 2, 3 fois maximum, mais le jeu n’offre pas assez de possibilité, de sensations différentes. Ni fun, ni frais, au final, Go Gecko Go! remplit plus qu’il ne divertit.

    Un petit jeu de course familial, mais pas folichon.
