By the end of the III century the Roman Empire is doomed. TETRARCHIA ("rule of four" in Latin) is a cooperative game in which 1 to 4 players take the role of the 4 Emperors, fighting the revolts within the Empire and the Barbarian armies that try to bring it down. With easy rules, the core engine leads to very different games full of interesting choices, with up to 81 difficulty levels. The Draco Ideas edition also includes: 
  • The Dux expansion, now with 4 independent modules (Dux, Vicarius, Pirates and Goths). 
  • Plus 6 independent variants, including a new competitive one (Barbaria) that holds up to 5 players. 
  • Plus 4 updated historical scenarios (Carausian revolt, Danubian Wars, Mauretanian War and Great Persian War). 

The combinations are countless! The flow of each Emperor's turn is very simple: spend up to 6 'Imperivm Points' (to Move, Sail, Secure, Subdue or Attack), and then propagate threats with the roll of two dice. The players win if they secure the borders of the Empire before the majority of provinces revolt or Rome falls.

    Niveau aisé testé en solo, c’est déjà assez tendu et permet de comprendre les points clés sur le placement tactique avant de passer aux niveaux plus difficiles.
    La séquence de jeu est simple à mémoriser, on peut donc se concentrer rapidement sur  la stratégie.

    Une video de l’auteur expliquant le processus de la conception du jeu est disponible sur youtube. C’est ce qui m’a convaincu de l’acquérir.

    Le matériel est de bonne qualité. La carte est lisible. Le packaging est simple mais bien optimisé (pas de vide).

    Je suis l'auteur du jeu (en plus d'un acheteur régulier ici...), et je suis très fier de cette nouvelle édition, et de la voir disponible sur Philibert ! :) Comme vous voyez dans la description, elle contient tout le matériel existant plus quelques nouveautés, toujours dans une très petite boîte.

    Détail important à signaler : le jeu est complètement indépendant de la langue, il n'y a que le manuel à lire, donc si vous comprenez l'anglais et/ou l'espagnol vous pourrez le jouer et l'expliquer aux autres sans problèmes. Sur sa page à BGG il y a aussi les manuels en français de la première édition chez nestorgames (jeu de base identique, et la plupart d'extensions, variantes et scénarios aussi).
