Traditional African Awalé made of teak wood. Awalé or Awélé is a strategy game played throughout Africa under various names. It is known as Kpo among the Wés in Ivory Coast and Liberia, Makpon among the Dans of Ivory Coast, Oware among the Ashantis of Ghana, Mankala or Ayo in Nigeria, Tsoro in Zimbabwe and Wari in the Caribbean.
