An egregore (or eggregore) is, in esotericism, a concept designating a "group spirit," a psychic entity, a force, produced and influenced by the desires and emotions of several individuals united in a common goal. This living force would then function as an autonomous entity. The term, which appeared in the Hermetic tradition, was adopted by the Surrealists, who endowed it with a strong subversive potential.
