Paupers Ladder - Paupers (players) compete in Garolium's tournament to find her successor following her death. They will travel treacherous lands, battle a bestiary of creatures and , with a bird companion through the treacherous land of Brighthelm in a quest to learn virtues. Firstly paupers choose their bird companion who they can train during the game. On their turn players explore the regions of the map by turning one of the 400 region cards in that region or take from the region pile. Region cards reveal ingredients, events and hazards - everything needed to develop your player character card to ultimately learn virtues. Be mindful of the other paupers who are also questing as they can hinder your progress.
