We are not alone! It is the 23rd century, and proof of extraterrestrial life has finally been discovered beyond our solar system. In fact, recent technological advances have triggered a cascade of discoveries throughout the galaxy; we now know that intelligent life forms and advanced civilizations exist on many planets, moons, and asteroids in the Milky Way.
The race is now on to establish interstellar relations with extraterrestrials. Our only chance of reaching extraterrestrial life is to pool our resources to build the necessary Super Ship. Through unprecedented, albeit difficult, cooperation between planetary governments, the peoples of our solar system have finally built the first of these Super Ships. Today, the coalition known as the Extraterrestrial Greeting Organization (EGO) is ready to launch its first mission.
In EGO, players chain together a series of major and minor events, including auctions, drafts, risks, and more. Risk and ego are at the heart of this game, as players will often find themselves in a game of chicken with their rival ambassadors as they attempt to impress various alien civilizations and gain political power.
At the end of the game, players earn significant bonus points or suffer serious penalties based on how aggressive the aliens deem them to be. Ultimately, the ambassador who has gained the most prestige and respect will win a seat in the Galactic Senate and be crowned the winner of the game.
