Chouineurs is a trick-taking game. Traditionally, you have to “follow suit,” but you can also “cut,” “piss,” and even “cry”!
At the beginning of each round, you must choose which direction to play the cards in your hand. Depending on this choice, you bet on the number of tricks you think you will win during the round. During a trick, the suit must be followed if possible. Otherwise, you can “cut” or “piss.”
You also have the option to “super-cut,” even if you have the suit requested. Last but not least, if you play the lowest-value card in the trick, you “whine” and can then earn a point or return a card from your hand, thus adapting your game!
After seven tricks, the round is over. Everyone earns points if they have successfully bet or “whined” during the round. At the end of the fourth round, the player with the highest score wins.
