Taïgaris, the strategic duel to control the forest
Taïgaris is an abstract strategy game published by Auzou, designed by Gricha German and illustrated by Giordano Poloni. Two forest spirits face off in a duel to take control of the taiga, the vast coniferous forest of the far north. The mostly wooden components and quick playtime make it an elegant, accessible abstract game.
How to play Taïgaris
Each turn, a token is randomly drawn from the cloth bag and must be placed on the game board. The goal: form the largest groups of trees in your own colour (white or green). Special "Animal" tokens occasionally alter the standard placement rules, adding variety and unpredictability to each game.
End of game and victory condition in Taïgaris
The game ends once the board is completely covered with tokens. The player who has formed the largest groups of trees in their colour wins the game, at the end of a duel lasting around 10 minutes.
