Several friends have gathered to play with you! Can you tell what they are doing? You have to match the identical pictures by placing the cards in the right places. Little Sentences Lotto is designed to help children ages 1½ to 3 make their first word combinations (e.g., "the cat eats," "the boy runs"). By having the opportunity to combine eight nouns with eight verbs in a variety of ways, they learn to make up sentences.

The period from 1½ years to 3 years is when children learn to make small sentences. This learning is more complex than integrating vocabulary words, because it is no longer a matter of learning "labels" by heart, but rather understanding the rules for combining words (e.g., you can say "mommy eat" but not "eat mommy").
