The Battle of Preussisch-Eylau plunges you into the heart of winter 1807, during the epic battle between Napoleon and the Russian and Prussian forces. Marshal Ney, running out of fodder, continually extended his base towards Königsberg, threatening Bennigsen's lines of communication with Russia. Napoleon, quickly informed of the situation, launched a counter-move from the south and west, threatening Bennigsen with annihilation if he was pushed back to the Baltic Sea.
Thanks to luck and the interception of his orders, Bennigsen managed to extract his army before the trap closed, retreating westward under pursuit by French corps. Delaying actions took place at Ionkovo, Bergfriede, Heilsberg, and Hoff until February 7, when Bennigsen decided to halt his advance so as not to expose Königsberg, which was vital to the alliance with the Prussians.
