La Bataille de Preussisch-Eylau Third Edition

Description

The Battle of Preussisch-Eylau plunges you into the heart of winter 1807, during the epic battle between Napoleon and the Russian and Prussian forces. Marshal Ney, running out of fodder, continually extended his base towards Königsberg, threatening Bennigsen's lines of communication with Russia. Napoleon, quickly informed of the situation, launched a counter-move from the south and west, threatening Bennigsen with annihilation if he was pushed back to the Baltic Sea.

Thanks to luck and the interception of his orders, Bennigsen managed to extract his army before the trap closed, retreating westward under pursuit by French corps. Delaying actions took place at Ionkovo, Bergfriede, Heilsberg, and Hoff until February 7, when Bennigsen decided to halt his advance so as not to expose Königsberg, which was vital to the alliance with the Prussians.

The Battle of Preussisch-Eylau is a detailed simulation of this two-day battle on February 7 and 8, 1807. Players can take on the roles of:

  • Napoleon, commanding the corps of Marshals Soult, Angereau, Davout, Ney, and Murat.
  • Bennigsen, leading nearly 70,000 Russian and Prussian soldiers.

The battlefield is harsh: freezing temperatures, snow-covered landscapes between fields and birch woods, and a howling wind that makes the fighting even more deadly. This simulation offers a realistic and strategic experience, designed for demanding historical wargame enthusiasts.

Contents:

  • Two 34“ x 22” maps
  • Countermarks (nearly 1,000 on 3½ sheets)
  • Two rulebooks (Standard and Special) with several scenarios and historical commentary
  • Two color organizational displays
  • Numerous tables and grids
  • Two dice

The Battle of Preussisch-Eylau is an in-depth study of a Napoleonic battle, designed for the serious player and military history enthusiast.
