This latest volume of history and wargaming scenarios from Anschluss Publishing covers the Italian campaign of World War II, from the initial invasions of September 1943 through the early days of the later Cassino and Anzio campaigns.

One or more subsequent volumes will cover the period from March 1944 to the end of the war in Italy in May 1945.

This book is intended to provide World War II players with a series of scenarios covering a range of engagement types, unit sizes, and varieties of opposing forces, including the first appearance of Italian partisans and Italian troops fighting on the Allied side.

The scenarios have been thoroughly researched and where inevitable gaps have been encountered, experience and pragmatism based on real military experience have been employed to make the scenarios as realistic and playable as possible. As always with the Anschluss books, the scenarios have been thoroughly tested to ensure that they are feasible and accurate, as can be the constraints of a tabletop game with the benefit of historical tactical hindsight and global vision.

For some players, the role they have assumed and the restrictions or limitations associated with it may make their task seem "unwinnable. However, as much as possible, victory conditions are designed to make the scenarios as close to real-world actions as possible. Remember, in wartime it is often not about winning, but about losing well.
