Build structures, manage your employees and defeat your rivals to become the next emperor.
Each turn, you build structures in the different provinces assigned to you via a rotating board. Balance war, politics, trade and religion as you plot against your rivals.
In
Age of Rome, each player is assigned a hero on their respective game board, then given secret quests and starting resources (denarii, partisans, stratagem tokens, legions and votes). They then spend nine turns battling it out on a rotating board for glory points.
Each round consists of four phases:
1) Plan Phase: An Event card is revealed and the turn order is determined; players activate stratagems in turn order.
2) Construction phase: Players build structures in turn order.
3) Action phase: Players take actions by placing supporters in turn order.
4) Income phase: Players receive income and the province table is modified.
Players can earn glory points in a variety of ways. They can build structures, place supporters to vote and win a majority, send legions to conquer regions, trade or collect items, or even build a pantheon.
Completed secret quests also earn glory points. After the 9th round, the game ends. The final score is determined, and the player with the most glory points is declared the new Emperor of Rome.
