It is an era of elegance, wit and strict propriety, and you, a ravishing young woman from a respectable family and endowed with disarming charm, have just finished reading a most captivating novel. You begin to wonder whether, as the heroine of these pages, your character would be defined by wit and charm, vigour and ability, honour and wealth.
Amidst the refined entertainments and salon pleasures so beautifully described, your heart is not drawn to the trivialities, but to the heroine’s love story, and you find yourself, perhaps recklessly, dreaming of a story not unlike her own.
Endearment is quick to learn thanks to a simple set of rules that allows players to jump straight into the game without having to read page after page of rulebooks. Random objectives and different paths to victory make every game a fresh and entertaining experience.
At the start of each chapter, locations and characters are added to the game board, and an ‘Intrigue’ card is drawn. Players then take turns visiting the town to earn persuasion points at the tea room, buy dresses from the milliner, and invite or search for characters from the character deck before discarding.
Once all players have carried out their actions in town, they take turns visiting the locations and interacting with the characters over a series of rounds until all locations have been visited and the chapter ends.
