Black Orchestra: 2nd Edition is a historical cooperative game designed by Philip duBarry and published by Tabletop Tycoon (Starling Games). Players take on the roles of real German conspirators — the "Black Orchestra" — attempting to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II. The game's originality lies in its historical grounding: nine real conspirators (such as Claus von Stauffenberg or Dietrich Bonhoeffer), each with a unique ability, and gameplay following the seven chronological stages of the war. This 2nd edition brings upgraded components and a rewritten, clearer rulebook.

How to play Black Orchestra: 2nd Edition

Fully cooperative, the game is based on point-to-point movement across Europe, where conspirators collect items (explosives, poison, documents…) and prepare their plots. Each turn, a player has several actions (move, search, draw, conspire…). "Conspire" attempts involve push-your-luck dice rolls: the more dice you take, the higher your chance of success… but also your suspicion and the risk of being arrested by the Gestapo. You must lower Hitler's military support and raise your own motivation before attempting the plot, while the pressure mounts over the stages of the war.

End of game and victory conditions of Black Orchestra: 2nd Edition

Players win if they manage to successfully carry out an assassination plot. They lose if all conspirators are imprisoned, if Hitler survives to the end of the final event deck, or if certain historical conditions are met. Three difficulty levels let you adjust the challenge.
