An ocean research institute dedicated to marine conservation
Endeavor: Deep Sea shifts the focus from its predecessor's historical colonialism theme toward modern marine research and ocean conservation. Players lead an independent institute tasked with exploring the depths, studying marine life, and launching sustainable projects.
Unlike the original Endeavor, which centered on area control, Endeavor: Deep Sea emphasizes scientific discovery, publishing research, and ecological efforts, in a more positive, less conflict-driven atmosphere. The game won the 2025 Kennerspiel des Jahres.
Specialists, attribute tracks, and a modular board
Endeavor: Deep Sea is built around recruiting specialists (divers, biologists, engineers) and placing action discs on them to move, explore, or conduct research. Four attribute tracks shape progression: Reputation, Inspiration, Coordination, and Ingenuity, each influencing a different aspect of play.
The modular board is built up through exploration using hexagonal tiles, gradually revealing new areas and research opportunities. Endeavor: Deep Sea offers several scenarios with varied setups and scoring goals, along with competitive, cooperative, and solo modes.
