Duel for Cardia is played as a series of duels. At the start of the match, both players have an identical deck of cards. Each turn, each player places one of their cards face down, then they are revealed. The card with the highest influence score wins the duel and places a Seal token on it, but it is the opponent’s card ability that activates! The cards remain in place and a new duel takes place. If a player has 5 Seals or a ability instructs them to, they win the game. If a player runs out of cards, they lose immediately. With this expansion, every other duel will also receive the influence of Protectors. These 12 additional cards do not intervene in the duel, but their power can be activated after the duel by the player who used a card from the same faction. These Guardians can alter the outcome of the current duel, the results of previous duels, or even future ones! They sometimes affect the draw piles, seals, etc.
If both players have played a card corresponding to the Protector’s faction, each player activates the ability. The order of activation does not matter. Exception: in each faction, there is a Protector whose ability activates only when a single player plays a card corresponding to that faction. If both players each play a card from that Protector’s faction, nothing happens.
The Duel for Cardia - Protectors of Nature expansion is compatible with both types of decks from the base game, as well as with Locations. This expansion also offers 5 new Locations to vary the conditions of your battles. Requires a Duel for Cardia core game
