Clans and Glory

Description

Plunge into the Scottish Highlands and guide your clan to glory by recruiting the best warriors, a strategic game for the whole family!
How to play the game

After setting up the game, each player receives a certain number of cards (depending on the number of players) and 5 wooden shields of his or her color. Your aim is to place your cards in the right places, while maximizing your scoring opportunities with your shields.

Place a card (mandatory): Each turn, place a card from your hand on one of the free slots of a meeting place tile. The card must match an adjacent or opposite card in color or rank.

Place a shield (optional): After playing a card, you can place one of your shields on the dedicated space of the same tile. Shields allow you to take control of the cards on that tile at the final countdown. The more shields there are on a tile, the more competition there is for cards with high points potential.

End of the game

The game ends as soon as the player who started with the fewest cards has played his last card. The other players then remove their remaining cards from the deck. Points are then counted.

Counting by meeting-place tile: On each tile, turn the shield piles so that the shield placed first is at the top. The player whose shield is on top of the pile gets all the cards of the lowest rank present on that tile.

Card distribution: The next shields in the pile allow players to recover cards of the ranks immediately above them. This process is repeated until all the cards on the tile have been allocated. If the number of shields exceeds the number of card ranks available, some players will receive nothing for that tile.

    Strategies to consider:
Influencing the count: Placing a card at a strategic moment can alter the combinations of cards available, upsetting the distribution of points. For example, placing a low-ranking card in a key space can prevent an opponent from recovering higher-value cards.
Shield management: With a limited number of shields, it's crucial to think carefully about when and where to place them to maximize their impact. Once a shield has been placed, it cannot be moved.
