Cities is a city-building game in which you draft the best projects and arrange them in your own playing area. Designed by Steve Finn and Phil Walker Harding and illustrated by Jorge Tabanera, it allows games for groups of 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, lasting about 40 minutes. With action and resource draft mechanisms, it will give you the opportunity to visit the cities of Sydney, Venice, New York, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. Can you design the most magnificent neighborhood?
The game is played over eight rounds (or four rounds in a two-player game). Each round, players use their workers to collect 1 scoring card, 1 city tile, 1-2 feature tiles, and 2-4 building pieces. City tiles are made up of park spaces, water spaces, and building spaces. Building pieces are placed on building spaces of the same color to form buildings, which can be 1-4 stories high. Whenever a player fulfills an achievement, they place one of their discs on the achievement board. At the end of the game, players add up the points they have gained from all of their scoring cards and achievements.

J’ai passé un excellent moment à jouer à Cities. Le jeu est très simple à prendre en main et rapide à jouer et expliquer. A la fin de la partie, on a cependant une certaine avalanche d’informations avec les cartes objectifs. Il faut donc faire appel à ses fins talents de mathématicien pour voir quels objectifs privilégier et lesquels laisser au second plan.
Avec un prix de 28.90€, c’est un positionnement tarifaire tout à fait correct pour Cities que je vous recommande.

En réalité, hormis son look repoussant, CITIES ne possède pas vraiment de défaillance. Ce qu’il fait, il le fait remarquablement bien avec une efficacité redoutable, sans un cheveu qui dépasse. En y réfléchissant bien, son plus gros problème provient sans doute de cela. Il est trop propre sur lui. Il tourne comme un dieu, mais n’est pas franchement charmant. Il est classe sans être vraiment élégant. Il fait tout très bien, mais sans émotion, sans passion, sans excitation. CITIES est un très bon jeu, opportuniste à souhait, et je parie qu’il saura plaire à la quasi-totalité de ses joueurs, mais sans les éblouir.

J'aime ce genre de jeu, où chaque partie est différente. C'est un parfait équilibre entre planification et adaptation, sans oublier un léger soupçon de hasard dû au tirage. Mais ce hasard permet aussi la rejouabilité du jeu pour le coup. Une très bonne surprise que ce Cities ????.

Très bon jeu familial, pas mal de petits mécanismes vus ci et là utilisés avec simplicité et efficacité, belle rejouabilité (8 villes qui apportent chacune 3 objectifs communs, en plus des objectifs individuels à collecter pendant le jeu). Boîte bien garnie pour le prix demandé, un peu trop d'aléas toutefois pour des joueurs avertis ou experts.
