The game consists of 24 episodes, starting with the development of a city in its early pre-industrial stages and progressing towards industrialization. During each game, players customize their experience by adding elements to their personal game board and adding cards to the game. Player choices and actions made during one game session affect the next, creating a personalized game experience.
For players who don't want the "Legacy" experience of My City, a double-sided game board offers an alternative configuration for classic play (some elements of the evolving experience are required for repeatable play, players can unlock these elements by playing the first 4 episodes).
