Set in 80 AD during the Colosseum’s 99-day inauguration, the game takes place as gladiators clash, exotic beasts roam, and musicians from across the empire perform before a cheering crowd. As Emperor Titus takes his seat for the final day, all eyes turn to you: this is your moment of glory.
It features new artwork, simplified rules, improved components, and brand-new solo and two-player modes. Longtime fans can also play using the original rules, and the game includes a new expansion, The Lion, adding a lion figure and new gameplay variants.
This edition introduces several major changes: the game now takes place over four rounds instead of five, requiring economic rebalancing and a faster pace. Players share a central Colosseum, adding their own gates to the structure instead of using individual arenas.
New Event tiles have been added, the stars are now screen-printed tokens representing six new characters, and the introduction of the Mercury token refines auction and trade interactions. Players also build Temples of Fortuna around the board and manage improved game boards to score points and organize their resources.
Every element has been carefully reworked to breathe new life into a modern classic, while preserving the spirit of the original.
