By the gods, this job is so boring… Loki’s minions are pathetic: nothing but clumsy trolls or awkward jotuns. And now I see Loki bringing the dead back to life from Hel’s realm… What an abomination! Well, if no one’s going to die, I might as well join the battle and make sure the dead stay dead.”

In Godin’s eyes, everything is a potential ingredient that simply must be tested. That’s how he’s created many of his potions, whether they’ve turned out to be brilliant or downright disastrous. If you’re looking for a remedy for pain, his laboratory—which is always open—is brimming with concoctions capable of numbing absolutely anything… for weeks on end. And yet, everyone adores Godin. Always ready to make people laugh or lift their spirits, he is unshakably optimistic. After all, who else could have thought that a mushroom stew with fermented herring, flavoured with pine bark, was a good idea?
