In the far-flung lands of our world, magic still exists, embodied in the spirits of the earth, the sky, and nature.
Spirit Island is a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players in which each player plays as a Spirit of Nature, defending their island against Invaders who have no regard for the well-being of this land or its inhabitants, the Dahans.
On each turn, all Spirits play simultaneously, using their Powers to repel the Invaders, defend the island, and aid the Dahans.
However, centuries of peace have weakened the Spirits, who begin the struggle fragile and limited. They must quickly regain their powers to contain these Invaders (automatically controlled by the game), who are advancing rapidly across the island and establishing numerous camps, spreading Ruin ever further in their wake.
To win, the Spirits, with the help of the Dahans, must destroy these Invaders and drive out any survivors.
However, if the island succumbs to Ruin, if one of the Spirits is completely destroyed, or if the Invaders manage to build fortifications, the island will be lost, and so will the game.
