Inspired by the various Japanese folk tales of The Crane Wife and The Decemberists album of the same name, this game is a conversation between two players and their characters as they experience a difficult situation.
Players will build characters with unique traits, decide what kind of situation they’re facing, then use their traits to try to endure the hardships that follow. Each must be careful what they give of themselves to the effort, though, lest it be lost like feathers on the wind.
Feathers & Thread is a two player journaling game about giving and taking. There is no GM needed, instead players draw prompts from a Tarot deck to create events for their characters.
The game can be played over 6 to 12 rounds, taking about 1 to 3 hours to play through.
To play, you will need.
- A handful of d4s
- A tarot deck with the Major Arcana separated or
- a set of standard playing cards with the Jokers included.
- Scrap paper to write on and tear up
