A game of hiding, sneaking and staying quiet
SHH!! is a tabletop roleplaying game of suspense, survival, and staying as quiet as possible! SHH!! and its simple Tension 20 system are a framework for horror, heist, infiltration, and other such genres where quiet or stealth are required, along with an ever-rising tension driving fear and urgency. Just grab your friends, hand everyone a pencil, a scrap of paper, and a d20, and jump in!
Much of SHH!!’s play will move through roleplay-heavy Narrative Scenes, where no dice rolls are required, allowing for nice big chunks of organic free-flowing gameplay. When play does require dice rolls, this solely falls on the Players, using our Tension 20 system. The Narrator doesn’t roll any dice.
Oh, and whispering is an actual game mechanic!
Whenever danger is present, or Players are attempting to ensure their momentary safety, play moves to Narrative Rounds and the Tension 20 system is introduced. It's a simple Target Number (TN) dice mechanic, with the Players aiming to MATCH or BEAT the current TN to succeed in the action they’re attempting to take. Each time a Player fails to match or beat the current TN, it increases by ONE for ALL Players as a group, with the next Player to act rolling against the new TN.
There's a bunch more to it, with lots of collaborative game mechanics to keep everyone engaged...and afraid! SHH!! is built for one-shot games and is super quick to jump into - you don't even need a character sheet, just a scrap of paper and something to write with!
