Fossilized Violence, the prehistoric roleplaying game to play with your plastic dinosaurs
Fossilized Violence is a standalone roleplaying game published by R. Talsorian Games, created by James Hutt (also senior designer of Cyberpunk RED). The action takes place on Pangeon, a primeval supercontinent where early humanity struggles to survive against evolving dinosaurs, developing strange biological traits and equipment-like adaptations. Its originality: a game designed to be "toy-interactive," explicitly encouraging players to dig out their old plastic dinosaur toys and measure distances by hand, without rulers or grids.
What Fossilized Violence offers
Players choose one of four cave civilisations, each with its own culture and survival strategies. The rulebook details 58 regions of the Pangeon continent and offers over 140 unlockable pieces of equipment (primitive weapons, armour, tools). The game system runs on a "hyper-explosive" d4, which keeps re-rolling on its maximum result for dramatic swings, and emphasises brutal critical injury tables, true to the harshness of prehistoric combat. Characters who survive long enough can become Elders, leaving player control to offer permanent bonuses to the next generation of characters.
Who Fossilized Violence is for
This game is aimed at groups looking for a fun, fast-paced and physical roleplaying experience, ideal for rediscovering the joy of playing with dinosaur toys. A free Quickstart version also exists, including an introductory scenario, to try out the system before investing in the full book.
