PinkO! — A soup so iconic, it became a game
In Lithuania, nothing says summer quite like a bright pink bowl of šaltibarščiai — cold beetroot soup, served chilled on hot days, eaten on countryside terraces, and loved by nearly everyone who grew up there. PinkO! turns that everyday joy into a quick, funny card game where players race to gather the perfect combination of ingredients and be the first to shout its name.
How it works
On your turn, take one ingredient card from the table or the deck, then decide whether to discard something you don't need or play an action card. Simple to learn — but far from simple to master.
Hold cards too long, and a rival may snatch the exact ingredient you were counting on. Play an action card too soon and you gain nothing; wait too long and you might end up with nothing at all. A stray fly or cat in your hand can wreck an otherwise perfect recipe. Reading the table and timing your moves is what separates a good round from a great one.
Once a player completes a winning combination, they shout "PinkO!" — everyone else gets one final turn, points are tallied, and play continues over several rounds until a winner emerges.
Two paths to victory
- The Perfect Recipe — collect 7 different ingredients for 7 points. Harder to pull off, but worth the risk.
- Student Šaltibarščiai — collect kefir, beetroot, cucumber, and potato for a quicker 4 points.
Watch out, though: a fly in hand costs you a point, and a cat wipes your round out entirely.
