ModernO! recreates the creative process of an abstract painter, one card at a time. Collect paint cards from the shared gallery, build up your personal and shared palettes, and strategically complete abstract paintings before your rivals do. First to finish three works wins.
How it works
Each player starts with 4 paint cards and 2 creativity tokens, with a gallery of paint and painting cards laid out on the table. On your turn, choose one action: add a card to a shared palette (earning a creativity token and drawing a replacement), build your personal palette, trade cards between palettes, spend tokens, or trigger a color effect. Complete a painting by gathering the three matching paint cards it requires from your palette or a shared one.
Built to scale with your group
Start with the basic rules, then layer in color effects — each color grants its own unique ability once played to a shared palette. Ready for more tension? Add the blocking rules, letting the player to your right challenge a completed painting with a stronger card, and the four-color expansion, which introduces powerful wildcard paintings and a new path to victory.
