While searching for the mythical Eldorado deep within the Amazon rainforest, adventurers discovered an even more extraordinary land—the cradle of a brilliant civilization that has since vanished. This pacifist society seemed to place great importance on the benefits of solar energy, which they called Aurea. In an alternate 19th century, take on the role of a team of explorers, archaeologists, and naturalists traveling, tile by tile, through this marvelous region known as Aurealis. Complex relics, mysterious temples, fascinating vegetation, and fantastical animals will soon hold no secrets for you!
In Aurealis, your goal is simple: to carry out the best possible expedition by gathering 7 tiles (Fame or Discovery) in your camp, and to do so before your opponent. On your turn, choose one of three actions:
- Play an Adventurer card from your hand based on the types (backs) of cards in play (in your deck, your opponent’s deck, and the draw pile) to earn gold, move your archaeologists, observe animals, or explore new areas of the jungle. It’s up to you to play your Adventurers at the right moment to unlock powerful effects!
- Build an Excavation Site to obtain Discovery tiles (Temples and Magical Relics) that will bring you closer to victory.
- Perform an action from your base camp: discard 3 Adventurer cards to trigger one of your camp’s four powers. To win, be faster than your opponent and gather 7 Discovery tiles (Relic, Temple, Legendary Animal) or Fame tiles (linked to your discoveries compared to your opponent’s) in front of you at the start of your turn.
Note: only at the START of your turn! In fact, during their turn, your opponent can take back your hard-earned successes by matching or surpassing your Fame goals. Fame tiles thus circulate from one player to another based on each player’s discoveries.
