KORIKÉ is a family card game that is both very simple to understand and set up, requiring concentration, strategy and thought.
The aim of the game
To win, you must be the first player to complete a grid of 12 cards (4 columns - 3 rows) by rearranging the fish of the correct color. For a 4-player game, we recommend a grid of 9 cards to maintain the same gameplay, although you can keep a grid of 12 to increase the difficulty.
If no player has completed their grid before the end of the draw pile, points are counted. Starting from 12, the number of cards missing from the grid is subtracted, the number of cards remaining in their hand is subtracted, and points are also subtracted if special cards are played.
Game content
There are 48 colored fish cards, 4 gray fish cards, 1 octopus card, and 2 rule cards.
Each card features two fish tails and two fish heads in four different colors. No two cards feature the same color. The cards can be played in either direction by turning them face up.
The subtleties of the game
All cards are unique. This means that if you're missing a card with a red head, a blue tail, and a yellow head, and your neighbor has it, it could block you.
The game ends when the draw pile is exhausted. If no one has completed a complete grid, those who have placed special cards may lose valuable points. It can be strategic to want to empty the draw pile faster by discarding three cards to trap opponents who have overused special cards.
You can draw from the discard pile when an opponent has discarded their useless card(s). This can change everything in your game.
Got a placement mistake in your grid? No problem, you can rearrange it at any time. Rearranging isn't playing.
